Employee Health And Wellness Programs Simplified

What are three simple ways to implement an employee wellness program?
When companies hear ‘employee wellness program’ what they often really hear is ‘big expense.’ However, this does not have to be the case at all. Employee health and wellness programs can be inexpensive and implemented on even the smallest budgets.

One great way to promote wellness in the work place is to offer flu shots at work. Hiring a qualified agency to come into your business and administer flu shots to employees wishing to receive one for no or little cost, is a good way to promote health and wellness. Not only will you be offering a benefit to your employees, but you will be reducing the number of illnesses throughout the office during flu season.

Another way to promote employee wellness is to plan a walk-a-thon. Employers can encourage their employees to sign up to walk a certain number of miles on a specific day instead of working. To make this even more beneficial, employees can seek out sponsors for the walk-a-thon and donate the money collected to a local charity. This is a great way to give back to the community while encouraging exercise and team building.

Many studies have shown the benefits of mind/body workouts such as Pilates and yoga. They have been shown to reduce stress, improve health and provide a great workout at the same time. Many business are seeing the advantage to offering these mind/body workouts in the workplace. Offering a fitness program such as yoga at lunchtime is an excellent corporate wellness option for businesses on a budget. They not only boost morale, but help employees refocus for the rest of the workday.

These are just three of the many ways businesses can implement employee health and wellness programs. These programs don’t have to be extravagant or expensive. Taking just a few baby steps toward corporate wellness can go a long way.
